London has a long history of being "The happening place to go". Being a metropolis with influence from its former commonwealth glory, and with its own London twist of new European, Arabian, Eastern and American style and at the same time being unafraid of shocking the establishment, the city attracts people from all over the world. After the 2012 Olympics, new exiting architectural eyepieces such as the Shard, Heron Tower and the Olympic aquatic centre by Zaha Hadid keeps turning up. Together with recent years masterpieces like the Gherkin, new City hall and London Eye, the city’s architecture is well worth experiencing.
The food scene is impressing. About 40000 restaurants and bars scattered across the city. It’s no surprise that many star chefs and cooking-TV competitions like the new global reality show Masterchef have its origin here.
