The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is one of the most beautiful and exiting art galleries in the world. The museum lies along the river running through Bilbao, and is all worth the trip alone (even if Bilbao has a lot more to offer). The amazing building was drawn by Frank Gehry and opened in 1997.

In addition to showcasing the very latest in modern art, the museum draws on the large Guggenheim art collection from its sister Museums in New York, Venice and Abu Dhabi.

Even if the exhibitions are exciting, the best part of The Guggenheim Bilbao is the building itself. The amazing architecture is so impressing that you can spend hours just walking around and inside the museum. The interior is filled with curves and crazy angles with a massive atrium which cover five floors. Walking bridges connect the different exhibition areas and balconies overlooking the atrium gives you many great perspectives and views of this amazing construction.

The museum has a indoor and outdoor cafe at the entrance area, a more exclusive restaurant and a great bookstore with both Spanish and international titles.
